The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act became law on 21 July 2010; it is United States’ principal legislative and regulatory response to the financial crisis. Although the rules that will support and implement the Dodd-Frank Act are in the course of being drawn up and passing through the lobbying process in Washington, the principal effects of the Act are now clear.
