Financial services regulation: Lawyers respond to Government’s proposals

City of London Law Society and GC100 comment on the Government “blueprint for reform”

In June 2011 HM Treasury published for comment its White Paper titled “A new approach to financial regulation: the blueprint for reform”. The White Paper contains the draft Bill that will, when made into law, put in place the UK’s new structure of financial regulation.  We discussed the White Paper in two posts – one on the overall proposed structure and one specifically on the new Financial Conduct Authority (the FCA).

The Regulatory Law Committee of the City of London Law Society has published its response to the contents of the White Paper.

The GC100 group of FTSE 100 legal counsel has also published its response to the White Paper, which can be accessed here.

The GC100 has separately responded to the Financial Services Authority’s paper on the FCA and that response can be accessed here.
