Rajaratnam gets longest ever prison sentence for insider dealing

Raj Rajaratnam, former head of the Galleon hedge fund, receives 11 year sentence.

The case is interesting not only for its determined prosecution, high profile and potential impact on the future conduct of some types of hedge funds, but also because it saw the failure of Mr Rajaratnam’s mosaic defence.

UPDATE 10 November 2011: Mr Rajaratnam has also been fined US$92.8 million.
