Responsible Investment: BVCA publishes updated guide for private equity and venture capital firms

Private equity trade body aims to “increase awareness of the responsible investment factors to consider throughout the investment life cycle”

The British Venture Capital Association has published an updated version of its guide to responsible investment for private equity and venture capital firms (the Guide).  The Guide, which is primarily aimed at fund general partners, looks at key environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues to consider throughout the investment cycle, summarises ESG risks and opportunities and contains various case studies, including on investments by Doughty Hanson, 3i and KKR.  This edition of the Guide also contains a new supplement on “Applying a responsible investment approach at the pre-investment stage”.

The Guide can be read here.

The primary framework for private equity’s engagement with responsible investment is the UN-backed Principles of Responsible Investment, which we discuss in this post.
