On 29 January 2013 BIS published the Government’s response to its consultation on “Private actions in competition law”. The consultation was launched in April 2012, as we discussed in this post at the time.

The Government has made various proposals in its response document (accompanying press release here). From the response document executive summary:

“!This note gives an introduction to the purpose of competition law, and a summary of the institutional arrangements in this country for enforcing it.” The note can be read here.
